Grandpa Watts' Grist Mill was built in 1931 for grinding grain and corn into meal, utilizing an intricate system of turbines and the natural flow of water. Mark of the Potter has restored the original mill building and added a porch overlooking the Soque River. The Pottery also owns rights to the portion of river behind the Mill and has banned fishing there many years ago. As a result, the mountain trout are unusually large living in their natural habitat. Generations from all over the Southeast have travelled to Mark of the Pottery for the tradition of feeding the fish from the store's porch.
