Matt began studying ceramics under John Arnold at University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) where he received his Bachelor of Arts. He went on to complete his MFA under Elmer Taylor at the University of North Texas. Shortly after, he became the resident potter at Mark of the Potter. With over 25 years of pottery making under his belt, he is still passionate about the craft and art of clay. He recently stopped teaching pottery at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega to spend more time traveling around the world to meet other artists. He is a great father, a mischievous co-worker (sneaky too), and a supportive mentor. Matt works onsite (begrudgingly sharing a studio with Muddy) as lead potter and kiln master. He lives up the hill from the studio with the beautiful Cindi Angliss of Hickory Flat Pottery. Matt can be seen demonstrating pottery making every other weekend in our store. New Images Coming Soon! |
